And I wonder why you are not complaining that elohim was taken out of the Old Testament Scriptures when they were translated into English. Why use the word "God" when the Hebrew said elohim? For that matter, why not just use a Hebrew Old Testament and a Greek New Testament and avoid changes altogether? The answer is simple because God is the English equivalent word for the Hebrew word eolhim. That is what translation is all about.

The translation of yahweh into Lord was done by the Holy Spirit who inspired Matthew to write: "For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight'"" (Matthew 3:3). The passage in Isaiah 40:3 uses the word yahweh in Hebrew, but the Spirit used the word kurios in Greek. Kurios translates as "lord" in English. This is just one example, the translation was done repeatedly and consistently throughout the New Testament. Therefore, what you are saying is that God doesn't know how to translate His own name into other languages.

Yahweh is not the only name that God used to describe or call Himself:

• "When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless" (Genesis 17:1).
• "The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, 'Destroy!'" (Deuteronomy 33:27).
• "And Joshua said, "By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites"" (Joshua 3:10).
• "I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name LORD I was not known to them" (Exodus 6:3).
• "Then she made a vow and said, "O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head"" (I Samuel 1:11).
• "Then Moses said to God, "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?" And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you'"" (Exodus 3:13-14).
• "In Judah God is known; His name is great in Israel" (Psalms 76:1).
• "For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth" (Isaiah 54:5).
• "In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Jeremiah 23:6).
• "For behold, He who forms mountains, And creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought is, And makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth - The LORD God of hosts is His name" (Amos 4:13).

God is too great for one name to encompass all that He is.
