Is it wrong to watch or play sports?

I’ve read several of your articles on sports but needed more information. I love college sports and the friendly competition that’s behind them. Is there any biblical principle that prohibits playing or watching sports?
Answer:
The Bible mentions several sports and uses sports to illustrate a few concepts. See Notes on Sports. There is nothing wrong with competition. See: Is competitiveness wrong?
However, if sports cause you to act in an ungodly manner toward other people, cause excessive pride, keep you from serving God, or leads to gambling, then there is a problem. It isn't the sport itself, but how sports fans behave that is the problem.
