Is it a slap in God’s face to ask for forgiveness since Jesus already died to forgive sins?

Question:

Hi minister,

I've recently heard of the dispensation of grace and it's something I've never heard before. I've read and been told by those who teach it that it is basically a slap in God's face or rejecting the finished work in Christ to ask for forgiveness of God when we sin because he already forgave us. Is that true?

There are so many denominations and varying beliefs in Christianity. I'm trying to find my way. It scares me to go through life not believing in the right doctrine. I'm honestly afraid I'll become a religious fanatic trying to attain perfection in Christ. I am trying to love God but haven't made it that far as I'm so afraid of Him.

If you ask me what the gospel is I couldn't really even tell you. Is this dispensation of grace "movement" biblical? I was told I Corinthians 15:1-4 is the Gospel and all one needs to be saved. It's hard to know what to believe especially when the Bible states the road is narrow

Answer:

Regarding the "dispensation of grace," see If Jesus' work is completed, does that mean our salvation is assured?

Of course, denominations teach different things. That is what makes the division as they seek to distinguish themselves from other groups. If you want to be a Christian, then stop looking at what denominations teach and learn what God teaches in the Bible. See We Are Simply Christians Without Being Members of Any Denomination. Response:

Thank you.

I pray to one day have confidence in my walk, confidence that grace sustains me, and a genuine heart that loves the Lord and trusts Him. I also pray to stop fearing eternity.

Thank you for this response and all the help you have given me.
