Inferiority

by Terry Wane Benton

I know that many people struggle with their self-worth. As many struggle with pride and arrogance, some struggle with the opposite problem: a feeling of worthlessness or inferiority. Let me speak to you for a moment.

God does not make junk. You are of special value to God, and He does not want you to undermine and depreciate the value of your soul, which is worth more to Him than all the world. You may not have the same looks, talents, and personality as others, but God did not want you to have the same looks, talents, and personality as others. When He said for you to love your neighbor as yourself, He meant for you to love yourself to a degree that you would not hate your neighbor.

You need to review this each day and give yourself a little leeway. You are just as valuable as any other human being. You need to discover your talents and use them for God's glory. God wants you on His team in His church, helping others to overcome feelings of inferiority. You can do all things through Christ if you let Him strengthen you. You are important to others, too! You have a unique role to fill, and you must never forget to believe that Jesus loved you and gave Himself for you. What you tell yourself constantly about yourself is not true if what you tell yourself is not “I am God’s unique and precious creation.”

Now, smile and make others smile. You are neither superior nor inferior. You are uniquely you!
