I can’t stop sleeping with prostitutes

Question:

Hello sir,

I read your article, and I felt I could tell you my deepest secret. I started sleeping with prostitutes some years back and have been fighting seriously to stop it. The problem is I have begged God for forgiveness on several occasions; yet, I fall again. Sir, I am tired of begging God for forgiveness when I can't guarantee Him that I can withstand the temptations. What will I do?

Answer:

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it" (I Corinthians 10:13).

I don't think you are being honest with yourself. God promises that:

  1. Every temptation a man faces is not unique to him.
  2. There is always a way to get what is desired without sin.
  3. There is always a way out of the current situation that doesn't involve sin.

Therefore, you are able to withstand the temptation. You simply choose not to withstand it.

Without an extended discussion, I can't tell you why you repeat this sin. However, you have to become fully convinced that this sin will send you to hell if you don't stop. "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9-10). Sin is not something to toy with.

There are so many reasons why having sex with prostitutes is bad for a person, spiritually and physically. You have to ignore all the dangers to get involved in it.
