How long was Daniel in the lions' den?
Since the king was tricked into sentencing Daniel, he worked hard to find a way to avoid sending Daniel into the lions' den. "And the king, when he heard these words, was greatly displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him" (Daniel 6:14). Failing to find an escape, Daniel was put into the den shortly after sundown (Daniel 6:16-17). The first thing the next morning, the king went to find out if Daniel was alive. "Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions" (Daniel 6:19). Therefore the time in the lions' den was one night, from a little after sundown to early morning.
