How do I teach my girlfriend a little at a time?

Question:

Hello sir,

I am a member of a church of Christ. I have a girlfriend who is part of an apostolic church. They have choir, praise dances, communion first Sunday of each month, and more false doctrine. Could you tell me where to start to let her see the truth? I don't want to lay everything on her at once but just get her to start seeing the truth. Could you give me some feedback? That would be greatly appreciated!

A topic that is important to discuss early on is the importance of having authority for everything we do. See Is the Bible the only source of authority? for some passages on this topic. Their statement of faith declares it: "We believe that the Bible is God’s unique and written revelation to people. It is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and the supreme and final authority on all matters upon which it teaches. No other writings are vested with such divine authority." So, it should be an easy point to establish.

From this basis, then as topics come up either ask where she found that in the Bible or ask what she thinks about a verse that you point out that contradicts her belief. Don't do it all at once. Just take each topic as it comes up.

What you are going to quickly learn is whether she is really interested in following God or not. If she isn't interested, then you need to move on and find a better woman.
