How do I break the habit of looking at pornography and visiting prostitutes?

Question:

Dear Sir,

Good morning. I am a married man with two small kids. I have a habit of looking at pornography and visiting prostitutes. Please help me by providing a solution to get out of this habit. Please help me.

Answer:

Suppose someone came up to you and said, "I have this habit of stealing. Can you provide me a solution?" I suspect you would say, "Stop stealing and get a job." "He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need" (Ephesians 4:28).

"Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry; but when he is found, he must repay sevenfold; he must give all the substance of his house. The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; he who would destroy himself does it. Wounds and disgrace he will find, and his reproach will not be blotted out" (Proverbs 6:32-33).

There are zero reasons why you need to have sex with prostitutes or to lust after women you are not married to.  A guy can survive without sex. No one makes you do these things, they are personal choices. For that reason, no one can make you behave. You have to practice self-control. You can stop, but you have to want it badly enough to be willing to put in the effort to resist temptation. "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:7-8).
