Do you have more articles by Matthew Bassford?

Question:

Hello.

I have discovered articles from you and other Christian men and preachers on the La Vista congregation's website. One of the men was Matthew Bassford. He posted one entitled "Insecurity" that I very much relate to, and I wanted to know if I could find any more of his lessons.

I was raised in the Lord's church and baptized in my youth (not because my friends were doing it or because of pressure from my parents). I did it again twice over the years, but I have had a problem with perfectionism all my life, especially spiritually, concerning belief and faith. I seem to believe that if I don't do the steps of salvation perfectly, maybe God will not accept it. That probably doesn't agree with Scripture, but there it is. I have also always been hard on myself and not shown myself much grace sometimes.

I would appreciate any more lessons from Brother Bassford and from you if you want to share.

Thank you.

Answer:

Sadly, Brother Bassford won't be writing any new articles. He passed away at a relatively young age from ALS a few years ago. However, his website is still preserved online ("His Excellent Word"). You can visit "The Legacy of Matt Bassford" for many of his articles, the story of his life, and a good sample of the hymns he wrote (he was an excellent hymn writer).
