Did the flood kill sea life?

Question:

How did the flood kill animals from the sea? And if it killed them, how did Noah fit animals from the sea in a dry ark?

Answer:

"And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive" (Genesis 6:19-20).

Noah was to take in the animals of the air (the birds) and the animals of the earth. Nothing is said about the animals of the sea, but that is because they would be able to survive a world-wide flood. The flood did kill some of the sea animals, the fossil record shows that, but it did not wipe out all life in the sea as it did life on the earth. "For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made" (Genesis 7:4).
