Can you have adultery without sex?
Question:
Is this adultery in any form? A spouse texts a guy friend, calls him, sends pictures of herself to him, goes to pick him up, and he buys her gifts. He says he likes her and has recently put a tattoo of her name on his body. She says they haven't had sex. She doesn't like him, only the gifts he buys. So is this adultery or another sin?

Since sex is not involved, it isn't adultery (assuming she is telling the truth). This doesn't make the situation right, however. Lust does seem to be involved on his part and greed may be involved on her part. For definitions see Notes on Sex.
