Am I Jewish, Hebrew, or Gentile?

Question:

Am I Jewish, Hebrew, or a Gentile? My mother was a German Christian. Her grandparents immigrated and were from Germany. What is known is that my father the son of his mother, who was the daughter of her mother, who was the daughter of her father, an Orthodox German Jew. Although I knew great-great-grandmother, I do not know if great-great-grandmother was Jewish. Although a kind and compassionate person, she did not practice a religious affiliation. I have known some Jewish relatives; great-great-grandmother's brothers married Jewish wives. I attended a relative's bar and bat mitzvah when I was a child. I was raised to practice Christianity and now worship Messianic.

Help me to understand my dilemma.

Thank you.

Answer:

In Christianity, physical lineage makes no difference. "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him" (Romans 10:12).

Messianic Judaism is a false religion, being a revival of the Judaizing teachers who plagued the early church. See Messianic Jews.
