All Things

by Terry Wane Benton

"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust" (II Peter 1:2-4 NKJV)

The knowledge source is the Scriptures that "completely furnish the man of God" (II Timothy 3:16,17). From this knowledge source, we can have grace and peace. We have "all things" that pertain to life and godliness.

Nothing is missing from the Bible that would supply us with grace, peace with God, life, and godliness. It is all there. It all comes "through the knowledge of Him." It does not come through imagination or the uninspired literature of men. It does not come through prayer. It comes through the knowledge of Him, which knowledge is only obtained through the 66 books of the Bible, especially the 27 books of the New Testament.

The Old Testament provides predictive and prophetic knowledge of the Messiah, but the New Testament offers eyewitness knowledge of Jesus as the Messiah, our source of grace and peace. Let us study diligently and gain the knowledge that supplies us with all things pertaining to life and godliness. It keeps our faith supplied with spiritual energy, enabling us to press onward and upward.
