Can I give on other days than Sunday?
Question:
Good day,
Is the giving during Sunday worship any different from voluntary giving at any other time? Suppose a brother receives a salary on Wednesday and knows he may overspend that month, so he decides to transfer the money to the church account rather than splitting his giving into four. Has he sinned?
Answer:
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come" (I Corinthians 16:1-2).
Giving is a part of Christian worship. Paul specifically stated that it was to be collected on the first day of the week. It was to be done as a person may prosper. If a real estate agent is paid for each home he sells, then he would give a portion of what he made on the next Sunday. Others are paid weekly or daily, and they would give on every first day of the week. I know some who are paid monthly, and they divide up their contribution so they have something to give every Sunday. Others give the month's contribution on the Sunday after they are paid.
What is consistent is that a collection is taken every first day of the week, and those giving give on that day.
