Your God Reigns

by Doy Moyer

"How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns” (Isaiah 52:7).

This is the passage quoted by Paul in Romans 10, and it shows that the preaching of good news, peace, happiness, and salvation includes, “Your God reigns.”

If we want to talk about discipleship, it starts with the reign of our Lord. If we want to talk about authority, it begins with His Kingship. If we want to talk about grace, it is rooted in His rule, for only one with the power to forgive can grant it. If we want to talk … anything, we either start with His Kingship or place ourselves on the throne over Him. “Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done

Jesus is King. Jesus is Lord. Jesus is the Head. Jesus is God.

This is where the good news finds its power, for without His authority, we have no grace, no hope, and no salvation. This is also why self-denial is so central to our discipleship, for it is where we decide who is Lord of our lives.

Your God reigns!
