Would a person be saved if he hadn’t gotten around to being baptized before he died?

Question:

If someone was a believer, repented, and followed Jesus' teachings, and was planning on getting baptized eventually but never got around to it before they died an accidental death like a car crash, would they still be saved?

Answer:

That would be up to God. I can't judge the motives, but someone saying they would get around to it one day seems to be indicating that keeping God's commands is not all that important to him. Contrast that to the Philippian jailer who was baptized at the same hour of the night when he learned the gospel (Acts 16:30-33).

"For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (II Corinthians 6:2).

Why take the risk of displeasing God when it is easy to get baptized?
