Will both God and Jesus judge us on judgment day?

Question:

Will both God and Jesus judge us on judgment day?

Answer:

"I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom" (II Timothy 4:1).

"In the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel" (Romans 2:15).

"For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him" (John 5:22-23).

One of the things which confuse people is a true grasp of the idea that the Father and the Son are united in all things. "I and My Father are one" (John 10:30). The Father has given Jesus the authority to make all judgments, but Jesus' decisions will always be in accord with the ideas of the Father. "I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me" (John 5:30). Therefore, Jesus will be judging by the rules laid out by the Father. Thus it is proper to say that Jesus is judging because he is making the decisions, and yet it is also proper to say that the Father is judging because He has laid out the criteria by which men are judged.
