Should the Lord’s Supper be passed forward from the back?

Question:

I am concerned with the way our church serves communion.  The elders decided to no longer place the communion plate on the table that says in Remembrance of Me and will pass it from the back of the church. First, they pass the contribution basket and then the wine and bread.  It bothers me and others because you can't see it, and you don’t know when it is coming.  Is it OK to do it this way?  I like the old way better where I can see it and can concentrate better on the reason we are taking it.

Answer:

There is nothing in the Scriptures about the way the Lord's Supper is to be passed. Right and wrong are based on what God said, not what you are used to doing. One of the faults of the Pharisees that Jesus pointed out was their binding of traditions that were not from God.
