Please pray that my friend learns the truth about the Jehovah’s Witnesses

Question:

Thank God for this site! My best friend is a new Jehovah's Witness. I am desperately praying for God to reveal the truth to her. I have sent her a link to this site. Please help me pray for my friend.

Answer:

The best way for your friend to see the truth is if you sit down and read the Bible, which is the truth (John 17:17), together. The material here can give you ideas on what to study together and some ways to approach some of their false teachings. Just asking her to read this site isn't likely to work as Jehovah's Witnesses are told not to read the material that wasn't published by the Watchtower Society.

Question:

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, we live in different states. I have shared scriptures with her via texting. She's very confident she is studying the Truth and has tried to share with me the scriptures from New World Translation. After talking to my pastor, I am at peace. All I can do now is love and pray for her.

Answer:

One of the interesting facts about the Jehovah's Witnesses is that they only use a limited number of verses, mostly the ones their New World Translation alters. You can get good conversations going by pointing out other verses that show the idea is inconsistent with the Bible as a whole. Also, when she brings up an idea that you know isn't in the Bible, ask her where it is found. I did that once with a couple, asking where it says in the Bible that the spirit visiting Saul and the witch at Endor was a fallen angel. After searching for almost an hour, I said that's alright, and then ask where something else was found. After about four of those in a row, they realized their religion taught things that aren't found in the Bible.

Question:

Thank you, this is a good suggestion. Would you help by giving me specific questions to ask her?

Answer:

Unfortunately, I can't because this works best with topics or material the other person brings up. Since I don't know what she might mention or claim, I must leave it to your judgment. If there is a question that you have, I'll be happy to help you find an answer.
