Is it ever too late to be forgiven?

Question:

Is it too late to ever be forgiven and saved with Jesus Christ?  I would love to move forward and let go, but sometimes I feel as if I'm too late because of my past.  I feel like it's just me saying this to myself and not what God says.  I let my past get in the way too much.  I know you can't answer if my heart is ready for it, but is it possible for anyone like me or others to be saved if they truly desire it in their heart along with desiring God's forgiveness?

Answer:

There is a parable called the Parable of the Vineyard Workers. It is in Matthew 20:1-16. One of the points made is that people are called, even very late in the day to work for the Lord. So long as you are alive, there is an opportunity for you to serve God and be saved. It only becomes too late when you are dead.  "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

Of course, there has to be more than just a desire. There has to be a doing as well. "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:12-13).
