Is God coming Saturday? I’m not ready!

Question:

Hello.

I was just reading your website and have come aware that God is coming on Saturday. Is this a fact? How do we know this for a fact and what will happen to us people? I'm very scared because I'm 14 and only have been to church a few times.

Answer:

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only" (Matthew 24:36).

Jesus said that no one knows when he will return to deliver judgment. Since Jesus always spoke the truth, that means anyone claiming otherwise is lying. The people claiming that judgment is coming on May 21, 2011, are lying. For more on why this is false, see: What do you think about people saying that Christ is going to come back on May 21, 2011?

You and I don't know when Jesus will return, so the proper thing to do is to always be ready. Even if Christ doesn't come back in our lifetime, still we don't know how long our lives will be. Rather than spending your time being scared by people telling you lies, learn what God wants you to do from the Bible, and live a life that God will find pleasing, then you won't have to worry about meeting God in the end. You'll be looking forward to finally seeing your Father. See: How to Become a Christian.

Question:

Thank you. But where did people come up with this? Why do they think it's going to end?

Answer:

We know the world will end because God said it would, and God always keeps His word.

"Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up" (II Peter 3:3-10).

While most can accept that this world won't last forever, many people can't stand left in the dark. They want all the answers, and if God doesn't supply them, they think it is fine to make up their own answers. By claiming to have answers that no one else knows, people feel they are better than other people.
