Is God as active with mankind as He was in the Old Testament?

Question:

Is God the Father as active with us as He was in the Old Testament?

Answer:

"God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world" (Hebrews 1:1-2).

If you mean direct communication with men, then God has chosen to only communicate through His Son, and His Son has given us the Bible as his communication path. But people can't accept that and constantly look for direct communication from God.

If you mean working sustain the universe and doing things, behind the scenes, on behalf of mankind, then that continues as it has always been done.

People forget that the Old Testament covers about 4,000 years of history in a condensed fashion. It appears that God was constantly in direct communication with men, but that is a mistaken impression. Only a relatively few people heard from God and that was mostly in critical moments in history. There were decades or centuries without a word from God.
