Is Enoch included in Hebrews 11:13 when it said all these died in faith?

Question:

You said that Enoch did not die.  What about Hebrews 11:13 where it says, "These all died in faith...."? Is not Enoch included in that verse?

Answer:

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth" (Hebrews 11:13).

Notice that those in the "all" had not received the promises. Who would they be? Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob all received promises of becoming a great nation, inheriting the land of Canaan, and having a descendant through whom all nations would be blessed. They did not directly receive the results. They only received the promises on behalf of their descendants and never saw them fulfilled. Therefore, Enoch is not included in this particular "all."

Besides, just a few verses before we read, "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God" (Hebrews 11:5).
