I’m interested in a girl, but she is planning to teach in another country for a year

Question:

I found another godly girl who is absolutely amazing. We teach each other about Christ. I really like this girl and I'm excited about what God has in store for her future as a teacher. Her dream is to teach in China when she graduates. She wants to teach for a year and seems very determined to go back to China again. She has been there before for a month, I believe.

I really like her. I don't know if I should pursue a relationship with her. I don't even know how to even begin to court her since I've never been successful at dating a Christian girl before either.  I'm comfortable around her, but the thing is, I don't know if I would want to get involved and then end up holding her back from what she wants to do in China. I'd come to visit, but I know a relationship may be out of the question with this particularly early friendship. What should I do?

Answer:

You work with this as if she is going. So you get to know her now and stay in touch while she is in China. Eventually, she'll be back, and probably by then, you two will know if it is pursuing things further. If she wants to regularly return to China, you may have to think about how you can join her if this does become a serious relationship.

You should be thinking of ways you can combine your interests and not whether you'll interfere with each other's interests.
