I failed to pray last night because I fell asleep. Should I offer two prayers tonight?

Question:

Hello,

I have a question. I ask you because I did not find any topic related to what I am curious about. Last night I was watching TV and in a moment I fell asleep. The problem is that I did not pray that night because I fell asleep. Will God forgive me or should I pray two times more tonight?

Thank you for reading this. God bless you!

Answer:

Because I didn't call my parents this weekend, does that mean I need to call them twice next weekend to make up for it?

There is nothing in the Bible about the number or frequency in which prayers are to be offered. Christians pray to talk with our Father, not to meet some quota. We offer prayers on a variety of occasions. "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18). As with David, any time of the day is a good time to pray. "As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice" (Psalms 55:16-17).
