God wouldn’t put unnecessary restrictions on people

Question:

Homophobia is such a joke. God, if He exists, wouldn't put unnecessary restrictions on His people. Can you really imagine your ever-loving, ever-forgiving God being that petty? This is pathetic.

Answer:

It is interesting that you assume that anyone who disagrees with you does so without reason and only because of a "fear" that is neither expressed nor shown. In doing so, you demonstrate your unwillingness to consider the morality of what you choose to do. It saves you from thinking.

You are correct that God doesn't put unnecessary restrictions on His people. There are reasons behind all of God's commands which lead to the betterment of people. "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?" (Deuteronomy 10:12-13). God's love is shown by His desire for the best for people and by His willingness to forgive if a person turns from his sins.
