Do you have to believe in Jesus to be saved from your sins?

Question:

Do you have to believe in Jesus to be saved from your sins? I mean, what if you were really trying to love your neighbor and do your best but you just kept looking at Christianity (very open-mindedly) and just kept thinking it must not be true? Could an all fair, all-loving God really throw them out of heaven?

Answer:

Jesus said, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins" (John 8:24). He also said, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16).

You can pretend that God doesn't care, but God has said otherwise.

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:18).
