Did God just make the world look like it evolved to test our faith?

Question:

Dear Sir,

I am a Christian and I have wondered for a while now after I saw a documentary on how the world was created.

It explains that water came from meteors, live came from a mixture of chemicals, and it explains this in a very graphic way, answering quite a few of my otherwise unanswerable questions.

My question is, did God expect us to find this “evidence” of an alternate creation of the earth to test whether we would still believe? Or was all of this just a simple coincidence? Did God specifically plan each and every bit of the events that happened in the ”big bang theory” or did this never exist in the first place?

Could it be true that God specifically created life as single-cell organisms, knowing they would one day become human beings? Or did he place random items of evidence to fool us into thinking the world was “just a coincidence” to test our faith?

I hope you can understand my question and I look forward to your reply.

Answer:

All you saw is a movie that postulates a way life might have started. Since no one was present at the event, to say this is absolutely how it happened is absurd. Just because some man decides to make a movie, it doesn't follow that the movie is true.

God could have created the universe in any way He saw fit. But God said that He created it in six days by speaking it into existence. God has done nothing to fool mankind. Men are quite capable of fooling themselves and are very successful at it. "But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (II Timothy 3:13-15).

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man -- and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things" (Romans 1:18-23).

The current fad is to change the glory of God into blind random events that happen without purpose. The fact that random events never have been shown to create anything doesn't seem to enter these modern-day idol worshiper's heads.
