Can We Have the Same Judgment?

by Terry Wane Benton

"Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment" (I Corinthians 1:10 NKJV).

This pleading is for each heart to surrender to the full authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. Only you can control your heart in regard to having the same mind as Jesus. His mind was to obey God to the very death, letting no one discourage Him from that mission.

The church at Corinth and anywhere today must have all members striving to have the same mind as Jesus. “Let this mind be in you” (Philippians 2:2-12), and two women who were not getting along were implored to have “the same mind”(Philippians 4:2). It was a doable command, but only as each one determined to do “all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Some at Corinth began aligning their minds and hearts with the command, while others didn’t. It is a command that calls for full surrender of the carnal and self-centered mind. To the degree that we capture the mind of God (I Corinthians 2) and put to death the old ways of thinking and living (Galatians 2:20), to that degree we begin to obey the command in I Corinthians 1:10. The same mind as Christ. That is the standard. It must be doable since God commanded it. If each person decides to stay in various denominations, they will never obey God's command.

Think on these things.
