Are the problems in Israel and wars in Iraq what Revelation talks about?
Question:
I have had a ton of friends who are part of denominations, mostly Pentecostals. Obviously the first problem is the fact that they are part of a denomination.
They have this idea that what is going on in Israel and the war in Iraq and around the world is what is talked about in Revelation. I know that isn't the case, they are drawing conclusions from stuff in Revelation that doesn't actually exist. Could you please help me to explain to my friends why this is not the case?

Before you can teach others, you need to have a good grasp of a topic yourself. Only then can you see the flaws in other people's arguments.
Most people miss the fact that Revelation states in clear language that it is about things that were to take place shortly after it was written. Take a look at "An Introduction to Revelation." I suspect just knowing more about what the book is about will solve many of your problems.
Second, we had an excellent series on Revelation by Ed Smith. He gave a summary view of Revelation that hits upon its major themes without getting into deep discussions about the meaning of every symbol. You need to have an overview of the book before you can expect to understand the details. So listen to Revelation for Today.
In regards to modern Israel, I would suggest that you read through the sermon outline: "Is the Modern Nation of Israel Important?"
This should give you enough information to be comfortable defending the truth.
"Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3).
