Do You Confess Jesus?
by Terry Wane Benton
To confess Jesus does not mean you are ashamed, but need to own up to this shameful belief you have been hiding.
Confessing Jesus means that you know and approve the name that all men should know and approve. It is the name above all names. No one is higher in might, honor, majesty, and glory. To confess this name means that in environments that are hostile to God and the Savior He sent, you are not ashamed to say you believe in Jesus.
You believe it is the highest honor to let that name grace your lips. You believe that He is the bread of life that you eat for inward strength, the water of life that refreshes your heart, the light that enlightens your darkness, the Savior that frees you from a meaningless and sinful life, the One who gives you hope in a depressing world.
You are not ashamed of the Creator of the universe. You count it your highest honor to be allowed to say His name. It has changed you so completely, and can change others, too.
No, we can be ashamed of ourselves, ashamed of our weaknesses and foolish priorities, but never ashamed of the King of all kings who loved us and was not ashamed to suffer and die for us.
Confessing Jesus is our greatest privilege. Honor the King of kings, Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God!
