Should churches have a Mother’s Day event?
Question:
Should churches have a Mother's Day event?
Answer:
Why? Where do you find God requiring churches to create special events around secular holidays? After all, Mother's Day in the United States started in 1908 and became an officially recognized day in 1914. It is easy to get caught up in seeing the "good" and forget that God determines what His churches do.
If I choose to remember my mother on a particular day of the year, that is my business, but I cannot create a special day for the church to remember mothers because God did not authorize it.
Response:
Thank you for the information. It is true that God does not require churches to celebrate Mother’s Day.
