Enough Is Enough!

by Steve Hardin

For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in…lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries and drinking parties” (I Peter 4:2-3). What Peter’s really saying is: enough is enough! You have wasted too much time in sin.

Some think there’s a need to live it up in sin when one turns 18 or 21. So many think that when one turns 21, they should go out and get drunk to celebrate. Even adults often have a perilous attitude when they are heard saying, “They are just sowing their wild oats. Kids will be kids. When they are older, they will settle down.” These same people, especially parents who reason in such ways, are the same ones who later pray for a crop failure when the wild oats begin to bear fruit for Satan.

Youth and strength should be spent on the Lord, not thrown away on worldly pursuits. Too many want to “enjoy” their youth, live it up in sin, and seek God later. Is this the way to live? Paul commanded the young man Timothy to “flee youthful lusts” (II Timothy 2:22). In Ecclesiastes 12:1, the wise man wrote, “Remember also your Creator in the days of youth…”. God has a plan for my life and yours, which does not include living it up in sin! Let’s devote ourselves to making the most of the time we have left!
