Since my girlfriend and I can’t have sex until we are married, is masturbating a sin?

Question:

Hi,

I would like to say I have spent the past month searching around and will be glad if you can give me the right answer.

I am 26 years old man, have a spouse and we have a daughter. May I say we had a daughter before we were spiritually enlightened? We then saw the way of God, my girlfriend is a prophet and I am a real Christian, I pray every time, and I know how to fight evil. God performed miracles for us recently, which is too long to tell now.

My wife and I keep our distance, she doesn't and so did I. I say this because I know her and with the fact that God recently told her, because she is a prophet of God, that we had to stop involvement in sex until we are officially married, and God wants to bless us in that. She told me and I agreed.

Now, at 26 nature comes and I know we as Christian have to behave in the situation, but it is still a natural thing from God -- I'm referring to sex. I recently used masturbation to avoid cheating when nature come. Whenever I avoid masturbation for two weeks I feel like cheating.

My question is: Am I going to hell for masturbation? Now it is my only source of avoiding cheating. My wife and I are eight years in love. I love my family and cheating I know is a sin and will break us apart. I love my wife and God brought us together and will punish me when I cheat, particularly with my level of Christianity.

Help me, please.

Answer:

You said that you are not having sex because you are not married. Then why are you lying by calling your girlfriend your wife?

You also call your girlfriend a prophet even though the Bible states that prophecy has ended. See Does God Speak Directly to Mankind Today?

Why did it take an imaginary message from God before you stopped sinning? God has clearly stated that fornication (sex when you are not married) is a sin. "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9-10). It doesn't take a special revelation to know this.

Yes, males have to periodically ejaculate semen. That is the way the male body works. See Is masturbation sinful or not?

Since you and she have been together for eight years, why have you not gotten married in all that time? "But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion" (I Corinthians 7:8-9).
