Is the Devil the apple that Adam and Eve ate?

First, the Bible doesn't say Adam and Eve ate an apple. That is an old myth from the days when people assumed that red fruits were poisonous. The tree was a unique tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Other than the fact that it was a fruit-bearing tree, we know little else about it. "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die"" (Genesis 2:16-17).

Second, the Bible is quite clear that the Devil appeared in the form of a serpent to tempt Eve.
