Don’t you feel sorry for the animals?

Question:

I just finished reading your self-justifications for killing helpless innocent animals. Let me ask you this and please be honest with your answer - Don't you feel any sadness, compassion or do you ever imagine the physical pain/suffering the animal is feeling? Do you really believe that animals were put on this earth to be abused and mistreated? My father was a hunter. I do not speak to him. I will never forgive him for his love of killing. He also abused my mother and us as well and he claimed to be a Christian.

Answer:

A lot of people claim to be followers of Christ, but you can quickly tell that they really don't care what Christ has said. Take yourself as a classic example. Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15). You claim that the material presented here is self-justification, but the answers have all appealed to the Bible as proof. As an example, the eating of meat is permitted because after the Flood God told Noah, "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs" (Genesis 9:3). That is not self-justification, but justification upon the word of God. Instead, what you practice is self-justification because it is based on your personal emotional response to the subject. As you noted, other people have a different emotional response. The problem is that emotions cannot serve as the basis of proof.

""Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle," which all concern things which perish with the using - according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh" (Colossians 2:21-23).
