Will the world end on December 21, 2012?

I have heard from several predictions that the world is coming to an end on 12/21/2012. These predictions were made hundreds of years ago. These people who had calendars stop in 2012. Is it true or not that the end of the world is coming?
Answer:
I have no idea when the world will end. But then, no one else knows either. Concerning the end of the world, Jesus said, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only" (Matthew 24:36). Now if the Son of God doesn't know, then why would I expect someone hundreds of years ago to figure it out?
The world will end when God, the Father, decides it is time. He is holding off because there are still souls to rescue. "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (II Peter 3:9).
The ancient Mayans had some fantastic mathematicians and were able to create an accurate calendar that outlasted their civilization. But it only went to 2012. Does that mean 2012 is the end of the world? No, it means that that is far as they took their calendar.
Anyone who claims to know when the world will end is a liar, plain and simple as that.
