Why Am I Having So Much Trouble?

I'm a faithful child of God! So why am I having so much trouble?

Hezekiah may have been asking himself the same thing when the Assyrian king Sennacherib threatened to overrun Judah. Though Hezekiah made many good religious reforms during his rule, God still allowed him to suffer defeats and threats.

It's the same with us. Conversion to Christ is not the end of our troubles. In fact, it's just the start. The problems you had before becoming a Christian will still be there along with the devil's more focused efforts to mess you up.

So, what do you do?

You do what Hezekiah did. Lay out your problems to God. Pray vigorously that His will be done and His name honored. Seek the counsel of a godly person who will give you encouragement and good advice about how to deal with your issues in a God-honoring way.

God may not send an angel to annihilate your "enemies," but He will give you the resources to conquer your fear and be victorious, if not physically, then certainly spiritually.

Be like Hezekiah.

"The Hezekiah took the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it, and he went up to the house of Yahweh and spread it out before Yahweh. Hezekiah prayed before Yahweh and said, "O Yahweh, the God of Israel, who are enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Incline Your ear, O Yahweh, and hear; open Your eyes, O Yahweh, and see ..." (II Kings 19:14-16).
