What does “reviler” mean?

Question:

What does "reviler" mean?  Does it mean only calling people names or does it mean swearing?

Answer:

"But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person" (I Corinthians 5:11).

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9-10).

The Greek word loidoros, translated as "reviler," refers to someone who is verbally abusive or who ruins another person's reputation with slander. In the Old Testament, loidoros was used in the Septuagint translation to translate the Hebrew word for contention or quarrels in Proverbs 25:24; 26:21; 27:15. It refers to a person who is never satisfied and who always finds fault with others.
