“Religion says DO, Jesus says DONE”?

by Terry Wane Benton

People come up with the strangest viewpoints and don't realize how unbiblical those ideas are. I keep passing a sign that says the above but offers no scripture reference. Because the Bible is the final authority, I would suggest that both Jesus and His religion say, "Do the will of the Father" (Matthew 7:21f) but false religion says you don't have to do anything. Besides, the Bible encourages "pure religion" (James 1:27) that Jesus says for us to do. False religion says "It is all done, and there is nothing for you to do."

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" (Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV).

Jesus says, do!
