Jesus, the Faithful Witness

by Terry Wane Benton

"And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood" (Revelation 1:5 NKJV).

Jesus is the faithful, dependable witness!

No man has seen God at any time (John 1:18), but Jesus is the reliable witness who can dependably testify and “declare” of deity in the way no other can do. Is God real? Yes! Jesus is the faithful witness to the reality of God. Has any man seen God in all His glory? Only Jesus has seen the full, unveiled glory of God (John 5:37). Why? Because Jesus Himself is God (John 1:1-14) and is One with the Father (John 8:16,19; 10:30). Moses got to see the parts of God that God allowed him to see (Exodus 33:17-23) without it destroying and disintegrating him, but Jesus, before coming in the veil of a fleshly manifestation, was all God in all God’s glory (John 17:5). He revealed the deity in a veiled form (John 1:14; 17:8,25; Philippians 2:5-11) but was fully divine before taking on the earthly veiled form in the flesh. If you want to know the Father, you get to know Jesus first, and that will tell you all you need to know about the Father. The Son is enough of God manifest in flesh to know what God is like, and to hear Jesus tell of God and show His power, is to learn all that we need to know about God. In Jesus, the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily (Colossians 2:10). Thus, Jesus gives faithful testimony of all we need to know about Godhood (Godhead).

Jesus was at the beginning of creation. In fact, He made everything (John 1:1-14). Therefore, if you want a faithful account of how the world began and how we got here, don’t turn to the ignorant men pretending to be “scientists” (knowers), who try to sell you on the ridiculous general theory of evolution (molecule to man), the idea that man accidentally evolved from simple forms of accidental life to the more complex forms we have accidentally become, but let the “faithful witness” give His testimony (Mark 10:1-10). He was there! His witness is far greater than the silly guesses and pretensions of men. Was there a world flood and were Adam, Eve, Noah, and Abraham real people? The Faithful Witness tells us, “Yes!” No need to wonder if the Bible is right or wrong! The faithful witness testifies that the Old Scriptures before His manifestation in the flesh are living and truly dependable, and He testified that the Spirit would guide His apostles into all truth in the New Testament (John 14:26; 15:26; 16:13; Ephesians 3:3-5).

When we have all this testimony from the “Faithful Witness”, why do we give any credence to those non-witnesses who claim that general evolution is true, and who pretend a greater knowledge than the Bible? The Bible is Spirit-given testimony from “the faithful Witness.” Our faithful witness gives us “full assurance” (Hebrews 10:22), and asks “Why did you doubt?” There is no good reason to doubt or be agnostic! We have wonderfully amazing testimony from the “Faithful Witness,” and that testimony “lives and abides forever” (I Peter 1:22-25). That word of amazing testimony was preached to you. It is the incorruptible word of God that turned my doubt into full assurance of faith. Have you given a fair hearing to the Faithful Witness, Jesus Christ? If you do, it will give you “full assurance of faith” that will live powerfully in you!

Jesus is also the faithful witness that there is life after death. He has been there and back (Rom.1:4). Therefore, we can be fully assured of the coming judgment (Acts 17:30-31). There is a very faithful witness who takes such questions out of guesswork and theory and puts them into the category of dependable assurance.

Have you listened to the faithful Witness?
