How do you stop saying bad words?

Question:

Okay, I read Careful What You Say, and I have to ask: what do we say when we can't say any of those words? What if I'm trying to stop, but it's such a habit it slips out sometimes, out loud and even in my head? I say it even if I don't mean to. I want to stop now that I know all of that is wrong to say, but I don't know, it seems difficult.

Answer:

We don't make changes in our lives because it is the easiest thing to do. Changes are made because it is the right thing to do, even if those changes can be a struggle.

I find it easier to say nothing at all. The vast majority of the time the words are just empty filler, giving no additional meaning to the sentence being said. If I hurt myself, I say "ouch!"

If you find you make a slip, then apologize to God and work a bit harder at controlling your tongue. "For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body" (James 3:2). in other words, mastering controlling your words also means you have gained the ability to have self-control in other areas of your life as well.
