Drunk Driving Down Among Teens

Source: "Drunken Driving Down," Omaha World-Herald, 3 October 2012

It is nice to have some good news once in a while. "In 2011, 10 percent of high school students reported drinking and driving, compared with 22 percent in 1991." More notable is that this change is attributed in part to enforcing the law. "The legal age of 21, compliance checks of retailers and less time behind the wheel by teens contributed to the decline." Remember this the next time someone tells you that we ought to legalize drugs because the war on drugs isn't working. The truth is that it is working because drug use is far less today than it would be if drugs were legalized.

"Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil" (Ecclesiastes 8:11).
