Lesson

Enjoy your youth while you have it. Just remember that you are still accountable to God for all your actions. Youth is not a time for sorrow and it is not a time for doing evil. However, childhood and youth are temporary. Though there are people who try to retain their youth, it is a foolish pursuit.

Serve God while you are young and while you can enjoy it.

Aging hits everyone who lives in this world for any length of time. Symptoms of aging are:

  • Dimmed vision
  • Trembles, loss of strength, bowed backs
  • Loss of teeth, cataracts
  • Loss of hearing
  • Easily awakened
  • Voice lowers in pitch and volume
  • Scared of falling, scared of being hurt when traveling
  • White hair, loss of desires

Eventually, death overtakes us. Therefore, we need to remember God and serve him before it is too late.

Solomon tried to pass his wisdom on to us in the Proverbs. They are profitable to all who read them. They are short and to the point and there is no end to the number that could have been written down.

What is the purpose of life? We looked at a number of things that most people think life is all about and have seen that each is a worthless pursuit. However, there has been one thread throughout Ecclesiastes that shows that there is something worth pursuing. The purpose of life is to serve God. Serving God is man's whole duty. God will judge us by how well we serve him after our life on this earth is over. How will God judge you?
