Solomon stated that the purpose of the books is "to understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles" (Proverbs 1:6). The order of the proverbs is a part of the riddles to be solved. There is a pattern to the placement of the topics, and seeing why one idea follows another is a part of learning the lessons presented.
