It should be obvious, but such observations do not exhaust our understanding of this text. So here are my scribbles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God commanded and said &#8211; (Matthew 15:3-4)\n<ul>\n<li>There is a <strong>God<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>God has expectations of men.<\/li>\n<li>God revealed such expectations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>God commanded <strong>in His word<\/strong> &#8211; (Matthew 15:6).\n<ul>\n<li>God&#8217;s revelation of His will was in verbal communication.<\/li>\n<li>God chose to communicate with man!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>God chose to have such communication preserved in written form:\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>written<\/strong>\u00a0Word of God is as much the word of God as the spoken.<\/li>\n<li>That revealed <b>through <\/b>the instrument of men (prophets and apostles) is <b>still <\/b>the<br \/>\nWord of God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Such revelation can be understood. Jesus expected such of his disciples (Matthew 15:10, 16).\n<ul>\n<li>God&#8217;s transcendence does <b>not <\/b>invalidate His ability to communicate!<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of communication is to be understood!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>People <strong>err<\/strong> in their understanding.\n<ul>\n<li>Those who are religious <strong>can <\/strong>and <strong>do <\/strong>err.<\/li>\n<li>Those who err do\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong> have everything wrong!\u00b7<\/li>\n<li>On another occasion, &#8220;You do <strong>err<\/strong> not knowing&#8221; (Matthew 22:29)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As I continued to ponder Matthew 15, I continued with notes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Truth <strong>does<\/strong> offend some people (Matthew 15:12).<\/li>\n<li>People being offended by truth does not make truth untruthful!<\/li>\n<li>Because some don&#8217;t understand does not invalidate the truth.<\/li>\n<li>Truth is not determined by man&#8217;s thoughts in agreeing, liking, or rejecting it. Truth is truth.<\/li>\n<li>Truth <strong>is<\/strong>\u00a0filtered through each man&#8217;s conscience! How else do we understand <strong>anything<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<li>Showing inconsistency or error in others does <strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0prove consistency or truth in <strong>you<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the end, God <b>will <\/b>bring all of us to judgment (Matthew 15:13). Thus, we need to take a hard look at the Bereans who &#8220;<em>received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
