At the time, men his age were married and had families. What makes him different? Mary Magdalene was his wife and Judah was his son. He could not do his preaching in that time without being married. The men would think of him as not being right if he wasn’t married. There are pieces here and there in the Bible talking about it too. I understand he was the Son of God, but he was also human and in the real flesh. Getting married and having a child is not a sin. so why don’t they want to talk about it in the Bible like he was some kind of super asexual being? I think it’s great. I just wonder who has his blood. Probably all of us. Maybe the people who are to be saved when the world ends have traces of his blood and that’s why they get saved. Someone explain some of this to me.

Answer:

I see. You rather believe a discredited television show over the proven historical accuracy of the Bible. Yes, it says a lot about you. It is interesting to me that you claim that the Bible hints of it, but are unable to bring forth any evidence. I know why, but that is because I know that there are no such hints in the Bible.

There are many articles written about why “The Lost Tomb of Jesus” is pure fantasy. Let me suggest “Discovering the Truth About ‘The Lost Tomb of Jesus” by Dewayne Bryant, M.A. as a start.

Your contention that Jesus could only preach if he was married is proven false by the apostle Paul, who preached to Jews and Gentiles, but never married (I Corinthians 7:7). John, who preceded Jesus also preached, but there is no hint that he was married. Even if you claimed that Jesus had to have been married in order to preach, you run into a simple fact. Jesus did not meet Mary Magdalene until the middle of his second year of teaching. Even assuming he married immediately instead of waiting the traditional year for engagement, it would mean he was an accepted teacher for over a year as a single man. Even more interesting is that the heavy opposition to Jesus came in his third year of teaching, after his meeting and healing Mary Magdalene.

True, getting married is not a sin, but neither is it a sin to remain single as Paul and others did. Just because something could have happened does not imply that it did happen.

Of course, you also run into the problem that by prophecy, Jesus was to die before having children. “He was taken from prison and from judgment, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living” (Isaiah 53:8).

Speaking of prophecy, your fantasy implies that the assertion that Jesus rose from the grave and was taken into heaven is false — despite the fact that there were more than 500 eyewitnesses to the fact (I Corinthians 15:1-19). As Paul said, “And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up–if in fact the dead do not rise” (I Corinthians 15:14-15). Jesus’ bones could not be found in a tomb today because Jesus did not remain dead. That is the essential core of Christianity.

Now I wonder why you want to talk about being saved by the blood of Jesus? After all, this is something the Bible speaks about, but you already state that you really don’t care what the Bible says. Of course, the Bible tells us exactly how the blood of Jesus saves — not by physical inheritance, but by obedience to Jesus’ commands and by faith in him. But I guess that doesn’t satisfy you since you have no faith in Jesus. Your faith resides in a modern-day discredited myth.

Question: I believe Jesus was married and had a child, a son actually.
