Does Everything Happen for a Reason?<\/a>“<\/p>\nWill God heal illnesses? Yes, if such healing fits within His plan. “Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him<\/em>” (James 5:14-15). Does this mean everyone will be healed? No. There are times when an illness serves a purpose, such as Paul learned: “Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me–to keep me from exalting myself! Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me<\/em>” (II Corinthians 12:7-9).<\/p>\nGod has told us what He desires and plans: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification<\/em>” (I Thessalonians 4:3). However, God has left it up to each individual to decide whether he will submit to God’s plan or rebel.\u00a0“So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure<\/em>” (Philippians 2:12-13).<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Question: Hello, How have you been lately?
