{"id":94309,"date":"2026-03-04T10:07:24","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T16:07:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=94309"},"modified":"2026-03-04T10:07:24","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T16:07:24","slug":"notes-on-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/notes-on-light\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes on Light"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p>by Terry Wane Benton<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<em>The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?<\/em>&#8221; (Psalms 27:1).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous<\/em>&#8221; (Psalms 112:4).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path<\/em>&#8221; (Psalms 119:105).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple<\/em>&#8221; (Psalms 119:130).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the LORD<\/em>&#8221; (Isaiah 2:5).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shone<\/em>&#8221; (Isaiah 9:2).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it<\/em>&#8221; (John 1:4-5),<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world<\/em>&#8221; (John 1:9).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God<\/em>&#8221; (John 3:20-21).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, &#8216;I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life&#8217;<\/em>&#8221; (John 8:12).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness<\/em>&#8221; (John 12:46-47).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me<\/em>&#8221; (Acts 26:17-18).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus&#8217; sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ<\/em>&#8221; (II Corinthians 4:3-6).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord<\/em>&#8221; (Ephesians 5:8-11).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy<\/em>&#8221; (I Peter\u00a02:9-10).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts<\/em>&#8221; (II Peter 1:19).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
