John describes Jesus as “the Alpha and the Omega<\/em>” (Revelation 1:8). Alpha is the starting letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega is the final letter of that alphabet. Even our English word “alphabet” comes from the Greek letters alpha and beta.<\/p>\n What does John mean by calling Jesus the alpha and omega? This is another way of saying that Jesus should be to us the start and finish of all that matters in our lives. He is the author of our faith and the finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He begins us in our faith, hope, and love, and He will finish our story of faith, hope, and love. Jesus is the “word”, the message of God, the communication of all we need to know about God, and He is the creator of the universe, and the One Who will end this system of evil and corruption. Jesus is in charge. The kings and rulers of the earth do not control how and when the story of life ends.<\/p>\n Jesus is every letter in the basics of our existence, and as the One who convicted us by words of evidence to believe in Him to start our faith journey, He will be with us to give it a great ending. Keep walking with the Lord, and let Him help you finish the race to the ultimate goal, the prize of all prizes.
